About
Welcome to El Amigo, a hidden gem located at 210 W Lincoln Hwy in Schererville, Indiana, where authentic flavors meet a casual atmosphere. As I stepped into this vibrant eatery, I was immediately struck by the warm ambiance that invites diners to relax and indulge in a feast for the senses. Despite its low foot traffic on a Saturday night, a testament to its cozy charm, El Amigo is a well-loved establishment, offering some of the best Mexican cuisine in town.
El Amigo's menu features a delightful array of dishes that cater to all ages. The kid's specials are particularly appealing, with options like Sope and Rice or Tostada and Rice, all priced affordably at just $3.75. It's an excellent choice for families looking to enjoy quality time over delicious meals without breaking the bank. Adults can dive into the flavorful specials, such as the Flauta and Tamale combo or the delightful Quesadillas and Tamale, each priced at an enticing $7.25. Every bite speaks volumes of the richness and authenticity of traditional Mexican cooking.
What truly stands out at El Amigo is the consistency in quality and service. Patrons rave about the swift service and the freshness of the food. Reviews highlight the flavorful fajitas, satisfying burritos, and perfectly seasoned beans, all crafted with attention to detail. The chips and salsa served at the table might be a point of contention for some—while a few find the chips on the harder side, others appreciate their crunchy texture accompanied by smooth and chunky salsa options.
Each meal at El Amigo is an experience, from the comforting guacamole to the standout Tres Leches dessert. Regulars have shared that they would travel long distances just for a taste, reminiscing about the memories forged over years of dining here. Whether it’s the warm vibe, attentive staff, or unparalleled recipes, it’s clear why this eatery holds a special place in the hearts of many.
In summary, El Amigo isn't just another Mexican restaurant—it's a place where flavor thrives, friendships flourish, and memories are crafted. I look forward to my next visit, knowing that every meal will be filled with the same warmth and deliciousness that keeps customers coming back for more.
“ I was kind of shocked that this place was not busy in terms of dine in on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was pretty decent, and most people do take out here, alot of people!!! The server was excellent, he took really good care of us. We ordered the fajita combination 3 platter and 2 tacos lingua, and a steak burrito dinner with chile relleno sauce and cheese on it. Everything was absolutely delicious. We read some reviews that mention that the tortilla chips must be stale but Honestly I think that they are just made hard. They kind of remind me of the chips that come in the Brown bag at Aldi's. Hard and crunchy. They gave us 2 types of salsa, one that was smooth and the other that was chunky. I enjoyed both of them. We also ordered the guacamole as an appetizer, it was delicious. The beans and rice that came with dinner were pretty standard, but I must say the beans were seasoned a little bit better than what I normally have at other restaurants. I will definitely be back again as this is a great place for people like me, Who don't really like a lot of crowd. The one thing I will say is I was a little disappointed that they did not serve mixed drinks, hopefully that will change in the near future. I did however order an Horchata and it was delicious!!! ”
